Competencies acquired in this module:
The student is able to:
- Increased confidence to draw on personal skills and creative artistic capacities
- Recognize own cultural frames that influence personal art-making
- Increase personal reflexivity and self-awareness in challenging circumstances
- Strengthen personal capacities to link aesthetic practices with peacebuilding approaches
- Develop relationship building through intermodal art-making
- Cultivate specific intermodal strategies for divisive relational dynamics
- Engage with strategic arts-based peacebuilding as an intervention tool in conflict and crisis
- Practice and integration of non-verbal communication
- Enhance intercultural communication skills via the arts
- Cultivate arts-based strategies that aid in the reconciliation and transformation of intractable conflict
- Develop theories, research and evaluation of arts-based peacebuilding strategies
- Cultivate coordinated plans to utilize the arts for specific stages of conflict
- Increased ability to determine appropriateness of specific arts-based approaches as they relate to stages and intensity of conflict
- Focus on the role of intermodal arts in addressing multiple levels of conflict
- Integration of inter-modal frameworks within existing intervention structures/strategies
- Identify ethical dilemmas and culturally fluent approaches
