Dancing At The Crossroads: Living at the Intersections of Dance, Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding

One-week intensive Module July 4-10, 2010, EGS Campus, Saas Fee, Switzerland

4 cp ECTS (2 graduate transferrable credits) for the 2011 MA Program

This advanced seminar will enable students to have the rare opportunity to work collaboratively in the Swiss Alp studios with global experts in conflict transformation and peacebuilding, and with internationally renowned dancers and artists in the same space!

Margie Gillis from Canada will lead students and guest participants through experiential and theoretical explorations on the intersections between conflict transformation and dance.

This module will involve an interdisciplinary exploration on how emerging and innovative arts-based frameworks can shift and transform actual conflicts. All students will be asked to contribute to an edited book following the completion of the module.

Three-week intensive Module June 13- July 5, 2010

Learn how to integrate movement, web navigation and design, soundscapes, video, and digital storytelling into peacebuilding initiatives. With the mentorship of award-winning professionals, you will gain communication tools that will facilitate creative conflict transformation and generative cultural exchange. Collaborate with international students to discover unconventional approaches to peacebuilding and imaginative community engagement. Come this summer and begin to learn new skills that can promote a more just and sustainable world.
