This advanced seminar will enable students to have the rare opportunity to work collaboratively in the Swiss alps with global experts in conflict transformation and peacebuilding, world renowned dancers (Margie Gillis from Canada and international guests) and artists from a range of disciplines to:
- Explore linkages between the arts and conflict transformation, practically and theoretically, and identify emerging questions;
- Participate in experiential movement session, reflective writing and dialogue to explore the insights generated from body-based modes of inquiry;
- Consider links between dance and narrative, and ways these links can inform transformation of actual conflicts;
- Identify possible pilot projects where dance-based methodology can be applied to model conflict transformation behaviors or engage parties in physical movement to increase insight and the potential for positive shifts;
- Examine interdisciplinary research on dance and kinesthetic learning as it relates to intercultural conflict transformation and peacebuilding;
- Contribute to an edited book following the gathering;
- Develop international networks for future collaboration.
